You need to insert a text box in the graphics, and then
inside the text box, a 1-cell table whith hyphenation
turned on inside this cell.

Once you've done that, you can insert an <equation*|...>
markup inside the hyphenation-enabled cell.

In other words : text box inside a graphics are like
non hyphenated-enabled cells of a table, one cannot
insert environments like <equation*|...> inside.
