Hi,
what i've done (when i could do it) is copy the cvs version on my home
folder and compile this version.
In this way i had the stable ubuntu .deb package and i could try the cvs
version.
Now, i have a cvs version on my 8.04 PC and the experimental .deb on y
8.10 PC.
