Hi Henri,
Entering "h tab tab" gives you the hbar (when in math mode). this is
twice faster than typing "\hbar return", and less visually disruptive.
Generally speaking tab gives access to variants of the character/symbol
you have just entered. It's really a neat way to get special characters
even if you don't know their Latex name; you just have to guess from
which character it derives, which is generally obvious.
For example "l tab" gives lambda, "l tab tab" a second lambda, "l tab
tab tab" a script l and with four tabs you are back to the original l.
One more example : "- >" gives an arrow, and with tabs you successively
get an arrow pointing down, up, etc.
Best,
Philippe

In 1.0.7.10 you can simply type \hbar then return in math mode,
and many
LaTeX symbols are available in this way.
