Hi Friedrich,

I don't know much about OpenSuse, so I have only guesses about things that
could go wrong.
Thanks for your engagement!
Today, after much failures, 37 online aktualysations finished their task successfully, and all
uglyness from before that had vanishie ( e.g. I got back a working okular for displaying PDF's ),

so I removed it by yast and reinstalled it from

komme ich nicht zurecht

1- Have you tried clearing (or just renaming it, if it contains valuable
settings) your hidden texmacs preference folder (~/.TeXmacs/)?

2- I guess you are using is the official TeXmacs 1.99.6 binary from TeXmacs'
website. If the above point does not solve the issue, I would suggest you to
try either
    - a package built for OpenSuse Leap (grab it from
https://software.opensuse.org/download.html?project=home:slowphil:texmacs-devel&package=texmacs)
   - or the standalone (installation-free) Appimage
(https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/slowphil:/texmacs-devel/AppImage/)

In case you worry about malwares, both of these were built by me on OpenSuse's
Open Build Service from sources, following transparent build recipes.

Best,
Philippe
