in earlier versions of texmacs it was ...

Options > international keyboard > russian > translit

...which was one reason why i instantly liked texmacs.

however in recent versions of texmacs i can no longer find it.
any hints? esp. *why* it got removed from the menu?? 

(the *scm stuff is still where, just the menu item is gone.
/usr/local/share/TeXmacs-1.0.0.11/progs/keyboard/russian)
