I have every possible debian *tex* package installed, and still it does
not work. The problem was raised some time ago, and you said that the
"masculine/feminine" symbols didn't work, and prompted the user who
complained to remind you of this bug some time later. This is certainly
a problem in spanish.

I don't think thus that it is just a font problem. In any case, I use
\degreesign, and compose a \celsius macro for temperatures. I have no
trick for the ª (feminine sign).

Unfortunately, \degreesign does not work for me inside mathematics
(instead, I see an "r" with a breve sign, in red, and I must resort to
superscripting the symbol with \circ (or pressing Altgr-2).
