You can also map Mode_switch to mod3 and i doesn't work with Xfree86 4.3.
But until Xfree86 4.3 the Alt_Gr ist not longer called Mode_switch. It's
called ISO_Level3_Shift. Something like this in your xmodmap

mod3 = Mode_switch

doesn't work until Xfree86 4.3. There must be an bug in texmacs.
