I'm running TeXmacs remotely under Windows XP, using X-Win32. This is a 
workaround for getting the AltGr key to work. 

- open X-Config
- choose rider "Eingabe" ("Input")
- say, under keybord, there is "German Keyboard [GR.xkb]" selected.
- click on "Bearbeiten" ("Edit") to get the keyboard editor
- click on the "R Alt" key
- change "X key state" from "Mod 3" to Mod 5"
- save changes to "MYGR.xkb"
- choose "German Keyboard [MYGR.xkb]" as the new layout
