One thing that worked for me in a similar situation was to export as PostScript, and then use Adobe Illustrator to open the PS file and convert it to a PDF--my documents were all text files, though.

The problem is that when I open the exported document the text has very low resolution and images are illegible. I have increased texmacs printing resolution to 2400 but it only improves a bit. I would like to know what can I do and what type of image format can I use to improve their quality (I currently use png).
