I did install guile. guile-config is in my path (as the installation instructions require). The warning message states that it is unable to link statically against guile. A shared guile library might still be available (wouldn't configure fail otherwise ?).

As far as I see, I seem to be missing a guile library (installed guile via apt-get).

You did not install Guile.
You first have to download and compile Guile.
