I wonder if such a thing be implemented using the embedded Guile Scheme
extension language of TeXmacs?  What are the issues with that wrt
communication latency and asynchrony?  Can an extension program written
in Guile get an event from that pipe, and perform appropriate actions,
in similar fashion to inferior processes in GNU Emacs?  This problem
seems similar to but not identical to that of managing CAS sessions in
TeXmacs.
