Thanks very much Dan, the various documents appear correctly now.

It appears that deleting the .texmacs directory then downloading the
wintexmacs again has given me the Maxima menu items which is great. The
only problem is that when I enter a calculation maxima becomes busy but
no result is returned. After a 1+1 Maxima shows [busy] at the bottom but
never comes back. While waiting I can start wxMaxima, do the calculation
and get a result but TeXmacs has still not returned.  Any suggestions?
