Is there a way to insert time and date into a document? I found out
that i can type in \date + enter to enter today's date. I was
wondering if there is anything to enter date and time as if they have
come from the out put of unix command "date".

do with the unix date command. I for example use it in my document to get date and time
in title and the footer.
I entered the following
1. \
2. date (write as text)
2. <ALT>-<Cursorleft> (to get an argument separator)
3. %e. %B %Y %R (to get a date like 20. Juni 2005 8:29 (in geran language mde)
4. <ENTER> ( to see the result)
I hope I could help you
Greetings
