Not much has changed yet. New documentation should follow later.

Not necessarily.

If the fonts look fine on the screen, then you may ignore the messages.
TeXmacs falls back on bitmap fonts for certain fonts like Pandora,
for which I did not manage to create Type 1 substitutes.
