Using Debian unstable, texmacs 1.0.5.10, BibTeX (Web2C 7.4.5) 0.99c,
kpathsea version 3.4.5

When I do Text->Automatic->Bibliography, it asks for two things namely
"bibliography style" and "bibliography file". I am using the plain
style. If the bibliography file is in the current direcotory then
everything works fine. But if the bibliography file is in another
directory, I specify it as ../file.bib. But texmacs does not generate
the correct bibliography even after doing
Document->update->bibliography.

The errors on the konsole are as follows.

$TeXmacs] Generating table of contents [toc]
TeXmacs] Generating bibliography [bib, plain, ../mathindex.bib]
TeXmacs] BibTeX command: cd $TEXMACS_HOME_PATH/system/bib;
BIBINPUTS=/home/rajulocal/mynotes/mathematics:$BIBINPUTS
BSTINPUTS=/home/rajulocal/mynotes/mathematics:$BSTINPUTS bibtex temp
This is BibTeX, Version 0.99c (Web2C 7.4.5)
The top-level auxiliary file: temp.aux
The style file: plain.bst
I couldn't open database file ../file.bib
---line 3 of file temp.aux
: \bibdata{../mathindex
: }
I'm skipping whatever remains of this command
I found no database files---while reading file temp.aux
Warning--I didn't find a database entry for "brenan"
(There were 2 error messages)

They occur once I do document -> update -> bibliography.

Any advice on how to use the .bib file located in some other directory?

thanks
raju
