Well, there is one change: 1.0.6 could not work with maxima-5.9.3 without 
some (simple) changes in scrints (only with 5.9.2), 1.0.6.1 has 
incorporated those changes and works with 5.9.3. The error message seems 
very strange.

One possibitity to try: remove your ~/.TeXmacs and start texmacs again. 
Sometimes, problems disappear after that.
