Why can't I use the tab key?What do you want to do exactly with Tab ? Only
I looked in the help file only to find that unlike every other text
editor (outside of a web browser), the tab key doesn't work.
insert a space in front of your text ?
In this latter case, type << \space {Carriage Return} >>,
and then a length (e.g. : "10mm", "0.5cm", etc.), and
then {Carriage Return} again to activate the markup.
P.S. : For a quick & easy introduction to the concepts
of how to do simple things, the markup in TeXmacs, etc.,
you can have a look at :

For a more exhaustive view of TeXmacs, you should also
have a look at the (excellent) documentation available
in the Help menu, especially :
<<
Help->Manual->Typing simple texts
Help->Reference guide->TeXmacs primitives
Help->Reference guide->Standard TeXmacs styles
>>
By the way, how on earth am I supposed to type a $????Type << \$ Carriage Return} >>
