Dratex is for structured drawing like:
* PIE CHARTS:
* XY CHARTS:
* BAR CHARTS:
* SPREAD DIAGRAMS:
* GRID DIAGRAMS:
* TREE DIAGRAMS:
It is close to XY-pic, I use both of them to draw tree or diagram,
or any mathematical related diagram. Don't think to draw nice house
with them !!!
Some examples are given in
http://dante.ctan.org/CTAN/graphics/dratex/
Or directly in the web site of the author of the DraTeX and AlDraTeX packages:
http://www.cse.ohio-state.edu/~gurari/tpf/html/README.html

You can find a working example in
YOUR_PATH_TO_TEXMACS_SOURCE/TeXmacs-1.0.6.9-src/plugins/dratex/examples/texts
The best documentation about DraTeX can be found in his book:
TEX and LaTEX: Drawing and Literate Programming. Gurari,
E., McGraw-Hill, 1994. (A manual for DraTeX, AlDraTex, ProTeX, and AlProTeX.)
