I have a problem when writing an equation with a norm, a modulus and a sum.You seem to have either selected these symbols from the toolbar/menu that appears in math mode, or held down the Alt key while typing these symbols, thereby producing large brackets or separators.
I have this result : http://pagesperso-orange.fr/jerome.landre/equation.png
I do not understand why the first norm symbol and the first modulus symbol
are so big. Can you help me resizing them as small symbols ?
Since large brackets and separators are rendered using characters in TeX fonts, the set of bracket sizes which TeXmacs can render is very restricted, and even a subscript or superscript can push a pair of brackets to the next size available. Therefore, I suggest retyping them as normal symbols (by pressing the vertical bar key once or twice, as appropriate), as I usually type them.
It is sometimes useful to produce large forms of these symbols, but they need to be in matched pairs. To produce one of these symbols as a large left bracket, either press Alt-L before pressing the symbol's key, or select it from the menu which drops down from the "(" toolbar button; for a large right bracket, press Alt-R or use the ")" menu, and for a large separator, press Alt-M or use the "|" menu. Large brackets in a properly matched pair will resize themselves to the height of the text between them, and a large separator will resize itself to the height of the innermost bracket pair containing it. Improperly matched large bracket pairs, and large separators used outside large bracket pairs, will resize themselves to the height of all text in the equation, producing ugly results as in the image you have posted.
