Hello Vincent,

i didn't have time to answer till now. I installed professor last week to see if it still works with the last ubuntu. Here are the steps i followed

1°) you download the sources/packages you need, on the websites and/or via synaptic ; for xcas you need to add a repository, but i donwloadedand installed via gepi the unstable version. Please read the readme for the texgraph installation : don't launch it with sudo but install it with sudo (it's easier, you don't have to make links)
2°) you create your texmf/latex and texmf/metapost inside your /home
3°) you put the files in ~/latex and ~/metapost
4°) you launch a texhash ~/texmf (don't use sudo and write the correct path) and a sudo texhash
5°) put the plugins in the .texmacs
6°) Enjoy !

now everything seems ok except a dvips probleme whose effect is that it does not work.

here the summary of what i have done.

this summary is important for me, in order to be able to install easily professor/texmacs on others ubuntu computers, even if mathemator has written a script for shall make this automatically, bu ti have not tested yet

i am sorry the summary is in frecnh i can translate if it helps.

if anyone could help me that would be very interesting for me because for the moment i can totally not use professor/tablor

dans synaptic chercher texlive-fonts-extra et l'installer

dans synaptic chercher texlive-metapost et l'installer

Remarque : ces 3choses sont naturellement installées dans Ubuntu ?

* trucs techniques 2

dans "raccourcis>ouvrir emplacement" demander à ouvrir "etc/apt" puis ouvrir le ficher "sources.liste" avec "source de logiciels" et cliquer sur "ajouter un serveur de logiciels" et rajouter la ligne deb http://www-fourier.ujf-grenoble.fr/~parisse/debian/ stable main puis cliquer sur "actualiser" et dans le terminal taper sudo apt-get install giac

* dans le dossier petite maison créer un dossier texmf

y placer

- un dossier metapost

- un dossier tex contenant un sous dossier latex

* télécharger http://download.tuxfamily.org/mathsp/Professor/professor.zip

décompresser et déposer le dossier "professor" dans texmf/tex/latex. Ce dossier contient des fichiers en sty.

* télécharger trois fichiers qui sont

* les placer dans texmf/metapost/

* sur le site http://corcelle.wordpress.com/ télécharger un dossier qui s'appelle professor aussi mais qui n'est pas le même que ci dessus. Il contient des fichiers en src.

* le mettre dans texmf/metapost

* inutile de lancer sudo texhash dans le terminal comme certaines pages peuvent l'indiquer.

résultat: tout marche nickel jusqu'à la pression de la touche entrée dans la session professor de TeXmacs après avoir mis n'importe quel code…  :

dvips: ! DVI file can't be opened.

cat: proftmp.eps: Aucun fichier ou dossier de ce type
