If by "+1" you mean "a more natural default behavior would be to presume that the table width cannot exceed the page width", i do agree too : +1

Dear Marc,

When you are inside the table cell, go to Focus ->  Special (in the Cell section) -> Line wrapping -> Top or Center of Bottom. Alternatively, you can use the focus-dependet menu bar, where text wrapping can be toggled on/off by the second icon from the left.
