Dear Francois,

A clean uninstall with appcleaner and I reinstall of the .dmg package seems to have worked fine, thank you very much
for your help.

However I note that accents in text-mode work poorly:  some work, some place the accent but the subsequent letter is adjacent to it, others do nothing.  Unfortunately the comm-F5 (on this macbook air anyway) just dims the screen so for those accent combos one is stuck.

Any suggestions?

Thanks once more,
With best wishes,
Philip

Hi Philip,

Did you installed TeXmacs from source or from binary package ?
