Probably something with your keyboard settings.

Nothing really great yet. Two imperfect solutions exist:

1) For simple diagrams, you may simply use a table environment and
the standard arrows in TeXmacs.

2) If you need lots of complex diagrams, then you may consider
drawing a picture for each diagram. Textual fields come with
special handles for attaching arrows.

In the future, solution 2 will probably be developed much further.

I had the keyboard problem, it was with ubuntu. But it works if one uses CAS, but doesn't work in an equation. I didn't find a solution the only thing I did is copy /paste.
