Hi all,
I was just wondering how often TeXMacs freezes for you all, and whether I should invest some time into trying to fix things or if I should just deal with it. I'm running TeXMacs 1.99.4 (scared of 1.99.5) on Mac OS X, Yosemite 10.10.4.
On a typical workday I write math in TeXMacs about 1-2 hours and usually get 1 crash per day. This happens when I have many buffers open (4+), and I save, and the error is usually some segmentation fault. When I open up TeXMacs again, all the "recent" files and files in the "Go" tab are from a 2-3 weeks before.
Number of crashes goes up dramatically whenever I:
- Import or Link images
- Use the drawing tool
- Use the "replace" tool in math mode
I'm very happy to continue using TeXMacs over anything else. I used LaTeX for about four years and am pretty good at it, but it can't beat having everything on one screen. I would simply want to know whether my experience is par for the course, or whether I might benefit from, say, emulating a Windows machine and running an .exe. I reinstall TeXMacs regularly and it seems to work better for a while then.
I would also like to know how much effort would be required to make TeXMacs a really robust piece of software. In particular, would anyone have an order of magnitude estimate of the financial cost?
Thanks,
Michael
