The error that pops up is a known bug (http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?50279).
You can ignore that for the moment (or use a file path and filename for your
pdf file with no space in it, and it will go away). In any case that does not
affect the content of the pdf file.

The other problems you experience might be due to other known problems related
to the pdf export of slide features (http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?46578). If
you feel it's different, then it's probably worth opening another bug.
