Fixed; it turns out " (open-font-selector)" still needs to be run manually from the "Evaluate Scheme _expression_" after enabling the debug menu.

I have gone so far as to add the font in ~/.TexMacs/fonts/truetype and invoke texmacs --delete-font-cache.

This problem occurs with or without the new style fonts.

Specifically, the Carlito font is the one I am trying to use.
