Ok, since it was working previously, it's probably something that got
corrupted in your personal settings directory.  On MacOS simply restarting
TeXmacs with the Alt key pressed may suffice to clear enough things. Otherwise
the problem will likely go away if you rename (or delete) the folder
~/.TeXmacs.
