Hi Friedrich, I don't know much about OpenSuse, so I have only guesses about things that could go wrong. Thanks for your engagement! Today, after much failures, 37 online aktualysations finished their task successfully, and all uglyness from before that had vanishie ( e.g. I got back a working okular for displaying PDF's ), but texmacs, profited not from it, so I removed it by yast and reinstalled it from Result ritz@linux-n7zx:~> texmacs & [1] 11390 fritz@linux-n7zx:~> /usr/share/TeXmacs/progs/kernel/boot/abbrevs.scm:79:12: In procedure scm_lreadr in _expression_ (read (open-file # OPEN_READ)): /usr/share/TeXmacs/progs/kernel/boot/abbrevs.scm:79:12: /home/fritz/.TeXmacs/system/interactive.scm:27:26: Unknown # object: #\< TeXmacs] With linked TrueType support /usr/share/TeXmacs/progs/init-buffer.scm:14:7: In _expression_ (buffer-newly-created? If the above point does not solve the issue, I would suggest you to try either - a package built for OpenSuse Leap (grab it from https://software.opensuse.org/download.html?project=home:slowphil:texmacs-devel&package=texmacs) - or the standalone (installation-free) Appimage (https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/slowphil:/texmacs-devel/AppImage/) In case you worry about malwares, both of these were built by me on OpenSuse's Open Build Service from sources, following transparent build recipes.
