I have an OpenSuse build at this place
https://software.opensuse.org/download.html?project=home:slowphil:texmacs-devel&package=texmacs
but I have not tested it and it possibly has the same problem as the official
one you have tried (both are made in a very similar way).

In any case, the AppImage
https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/slowphil:/texmacs-devel/AppImage/
is probably a good option for you. It is supposed to be distro-independent, it
requires not install whatsoever and it supposedly includes all dependencies.
AFAICT it works well in Debian and Ubuntu, and it should run well in OpenSuse
because it is built with it.
