Thank you, but what I mean is something like Cmd-Click on a link that opens a new tab in a browser (in macOS, at least).

Yes : you have to start a second TeXmacs session (it opens in a new window) and then open the second file in this one (instead of the previous one). Not sure that "copy-paste" works well in this configuration...
