Thanks! That link has the answer: Just had to rename the .desktop file to texmacs.bin.desktop.
Any chance this could be fixed in the TeXmacs package by default?

Anyone knows how to fix the icon of TeXmacs in Ubuntu? It looks like this on the sidebar:

Strangely the icon on the launcher is fine.
