This issue does not seem to concern "semaintic editing",
but rather the amount of space that TeXmacs uses for invisible multiplication.
One may use the package 'invisible-multiply' to suppress the tiny space 
altogether.

In 'TeXmacs/packages/customize/spacing', you may find several
other packages to control the spacing in math mode.
