I have the feeling that the answer is "use a table with one row and two cells, and fixed cell width" (possibly one that can accommodate page breaks, although I do not know how to do that). But let's hear someone else :-)

Dear all,
I wonder whether it is possible to have two columns but the two are not aligned, especially during editing? I plan to use this mode for teaching, but it is a bit annoying that when I write things, TeXmacs is automatically calculating how to make the two columns aligned at the bottom.
Best,
