Dear Isaac,

TeXmacs is not officially supported on Chrome OS, but I found here:

https://www.xda-developers.com/linux-apps-chrome-os/

some instructions on how to setup Chrome OS to run Linux applications. Since TeXmacs run also on Linux, you can try those instructions and find the required .deb packages here:

http://texmacs.org/tmweb/download/linux-packages.en.html#debian

which one you need, I'm not sure, you will have to try out. I'm not a user of Linux myself so I do not understand the differences of the various packages.

Note that all this has some chance to work only if your computer has an Intel/AMD processor, if you have an ARM processor you cannot use those files and you will have to recompile TeXmacs (within the Linux environment of the Chromebook) yourself (as suggested by the message below).

I'm sorry I cannot provide much more help than this, since I cannot test myself the procedure.

Best regards,
Massimiliano Gubinelli

Hi Vincent and Max,

Actually, the Chrome OS wikipedia page says it's possible to run Linux apps in
recent Chromebooks. Apparently, this is acheived by running a VM with debian
Buster inside. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrome_OS#Linux_apps

So, if the machine has an intel-compatible cpu there is a good chance that the
appimage would work in that VM. If it's an arm cpu, one would need to compile
TeXmacs; it's not for beginners, but it should work

Hello! I'm currently trying to download TeXmacs, following the recommendation of my math teacher. However, I'm not exactly the most tech-savy person out there, would any of you be able to help? The only computer I have for this is a Chromebook Asus c202s. Will I be able to Download it? If so, is the downloading procedure any different? Thanks.
