How did you solved the crash issues with external screen? Here is my solution on the same issue:

I've fixed many bugs in Mogan Research (one of the distribution of GNU TeXmacs). I suggest that you should browse the devel folder of Mogan to learn about the bug fixes and improvements so that you do not need to spare extra time to fix the same issue.

I'm sorry I have few time to contribute my work in Mogan to GNU TeXmacs. Because I'm busy organizing/mentoring the OSPP summer of code event and trying to popularize the fork of GNU TeXmacs (Mogan Research) for money making purpose.

After the release of Mogan v1.2.9 LTS, I will spare more time to contribute the bug fixes and improvements back to GNU TeXmacs.
