Dear TeXmacs team,
many thanks for the new version!
I am a new user and have great respect for TeXmacs - a truly innovative
way to edit high quality documents.
I made my first experiences with version 2.1.4 and noticed that the
"High resolution screen settings" stopped working in version 2.1.5 on
Windows. Setting the scale has no effect, I always get the 1.0 setting.
Also, as a GNU and free software enthusiast, I would like to suggest a
different distribution channel for the Windows version of GNU TeXmacs.
Installing it via the Microsoft Store might be convenient for some
users, but it is a burden for software freedom. Any program installed
through it will be placed in a hidden and inaccessible directory - you
need administrator rights and some special knowlegde how to make it
accessible for inspection. Let alone that the Microsoft Store is
Microsoft's "walled garden" for software, a proprieraty platform
controlled by … well, you got my point.
I use Windows involuntarily on my work computer, but I prefer to install
any free software there using portable zip archives - just unzip them in
a directory of your choice and you are done. No gatekeeping, telemetry
etc.
Anyhow, I enjoy the new version and keep looking forward to learn my way
through TeXmacs :)
Kind regards,
Martin
