On OS X (both a G4 and an intel), with the latest fink unstable package
and with a french keyboard, the keys like "\", "|", ... where you

TeXmacs preferences or with xmodmap), without succes while
all other X11 application like xemacs works perfectly.

Any Idea ?
I do not know the exact cause of the problem, but it is related to the
way Apple X11 handles modifier keys.

The following works for me: I unchecked all boxes in X11.app
preferences and set .Xmodmap according to this tip:
