Hi all,

Thanks for all your help and quick response.

I think that this is related with TeXmacs. I have opened the files in kpdf and evince and in both look the same. Also I tried changing the bottom margin and I get two pretty different files, the one which has the _bigger_ margin is, strangely, more close to the bottom of the page. I have attached the two files.

The difference between them is just the margins. This is the code for the first one:

<\initial>
<\collection>
<associate|font-base-size|12>
<associate|language|spanish>
<associate|page-medium|paper>
<associate|page-type|letter>
<associate|par-line-sep|0.050fns>
<associate|par-sep|0.6fn>
</collection>
</initial>

And this is the code for the second:

<\initial>
<\collection>
<associate|font-base-size|12>
<associate|language|spanish>
<associate|page-bot|6 cm>
<associate|page-medium|paper>
<associate|page-top|2 cm>
<associate|page-type|letter>
<associate|par-line-sep|0.050fns>
<associate|par-sep|0.6fn>
</collection>
</initial>

As you see, the bigger I make the bottom margin, the closer the text gets to the bottom of the page in the pdf generated file.

I will be making more attempts and will try to keep you informed and I will be waiting for your your ideas.

Cheers,

Offray

We have had some strange printing problems with Ubuntu, using a networked
printer and a student-configured NIS server. I had always assumed the
problems were due to a configuration error here, _but_ in case I'm wrong
or you somehow have the same error, I'll pass this along: sometimes I
have better (or worse) luck when I switch previewers or switch between
postscript and PDF. So, I recommend you try exporting from TeXmacs as
_both_ a PDF _and_then_ as a postscript file (.ps), and then try printing
each one from _both_ the "gv" _and_ "evince" previewers. Since your file
looks good in the preview but won't print, I suspect the problem is more
to do with your printer than with TeXmacs, though just today I thought
that about a file I had generated with OpenOffice and ended up having
to change things by setting the page orientation in _two_ places within
OpenOffice ... but that is another story.

I hope I have managed to include something useful in my rambling. Good
luck with your attempt to fix this under time pressure.
