Hello,

I don't think anyone who works on Sage considers it to be a competitor
to TeXmacs. Sage is a computer algebra system which also happens to
be able interact with other CASs.

I would be very happy if there was a good TeXmacs interface to Sage.
The reason why a web interface was initially created was because it
was seen as the quickest, cross-platform way to get a GUI. The Sage
notebook is actually one of the least developed areas of the program
since most people are really interested in implementing mathematics
functionality. I don't think that it has actively been worked on for
about 6 months. There have been approximately 30 releases of Sage
since then.

Since Sage is just a Python library, I envision there being multiple
interfaces for it in the future.
