i said i wanted texmacs to do the wrapping and adapt the space between words inside the cell. Is it possible ?

When you are inside the table cell, go to Focus -> Special (in the Cell section) -> Line wrapping -> Top or Center of Bottom. Alternatively, you can use the focus-dependet menu bar, where text wrapping can be toggled on/off by the second icon from the left.
