You can learn the most by opening the style package files (*.ts) and reading them. There may be something  you can set globally with an assign in your preamble. I'd use the source to find out what it is.

Oups, i was not precise enough.

I'd like to have displaystyle active for ALL my inline formulas.

Thank you for your replies.

Also, if you have the "Focus Dependent Toolbar" turned on (see the  View menu) then if you are clicked inside an "Inline formula" these exact words are in the toolbar. Click to select Displayed Formula.

Put the cursor just inside it and them look at the "Focus" toolbar wrench icon dropdown menu.

Two ways I know.

If you have already written you math, highlight where you want it condensed. In the Format menu you should see a Condensed submenu to turn it on.

If you are just starting your equation, before you type any symbols turn condensed on. If you don't move the cursor the entire equation will be condensed.

I think TeXmacs implied (invisibl) multiplication uses to much space. It bothers me and when I refer to textbooks. Compare the latex
\LARGE{abc=d}

with TeXmacs

Condensed mode in TeXmacs is about right.

I either want to turn condensed mode on by default or redefine the amount of space for invisible multiplication. I am not sure which is best and/or easiest.
