What do you want to do? Why use Type1 cm fonts while TeXmacs can use the
native ones?

No, TeXmacs is not front end to LaTeX, but a new typesetting system which is
completely incompatible with TeX.
I do not know about the TIPA fonts. Does someones knows what they are and
whether they are already supported by TeXmacs?
