At the same place, where you get the Warnings (cmbx10 at 600dpi not
found), and the fatal error (more bits than required... in load-pk.cpp) I
get on a freshly installed machine (Win 2000 server):

TeXmacs] Executing mktexfm cmbx17.tfm
... and then Metafont appears and everything works fine.

So i cannot reproduce this error.

What Windows do you use?

Did you uninstall a former TeXmacs version?

Do or did you have a non-Cygwin TeX installation on this machine?

Joris, can you shed light on this, you wrote in a mail to Ilya Papiashvili
recently about a similar error: "You problem had a conversion problem with
the DOS and UNIX file formats. Please try to reinstall while taking care
that the files stay in unix format."

Ciao,
Andreas.
