I know, I read the thread. The sad part of the story is that I thought quite
stupidly, 'my problem is totally diferent'.

Obviously, that works. Thank you very much.
Question for the FAQ (please, correct all the mistakes. Only if you think it
should be included):
Q: I have cross references in my document but when I update the document I
get
* instead of the number of the section. How can I solve it?
A: The problem is that your section labels are inside the section title,
whereas they should instead be placed immediately _after_ the section title
on the same line.
To solve it follow these steps:
1. Go to the section with the label.
2. Read the label and remember it. If you cannot see the name of the label,
Document -> Informative flags -> Detailed
3. Delete the label.
4. Go to the end of the line and insert the label using the name of the step
2. If you don't change the name, you should not change the reference.
After repeating these steps for every label, you should not have more
problems
with the references after updating the buffer.
