I use TeXmacs for writing my diploma thesis and I get along quite nicely (big thanks to the developers btw.)

But the performance on my not quite _that_ old system is not very good. Scrolling and continuousy updating

layout while writing more like "crawl". It all works, but can I do anything to speed it up a little?

Spec is WinXP+cygwin+tetex on 1,8 GHz and 512 Mb ram
