Is my computer too slow? (with the several time mentioned Xfig I can use
it with no overload)
Definitely not. The processor you have (1Ghz) is quite sufficient.
I am working on a Duron 1 Ghz 512Mb of Ram
As soon as I cliccked the circle icon to draw a circle the processor
spinned at full speed preventing a smooth use of the applcation, the
mouse moves at discrete time and it is not exactly what you would expect
for a precise drawing environment....
It should definitely not do it. Some questions :
-> which version of TeXmacs are you using ? It should be >= 1.0.5 ; it
should be noted that the alpha version of the graphics only appears
in the 1.0.5.9 version ;
-> do you observe the same behaviour with other kinds of curves (i.e. splines) ?
It is known that drawing circles is slower than for other curves, due to cos/sin
calculations, but it does not go to the extreme slowness you describe ;
-> are you using Windows (recently, the Windows version has been broken, due
to compilation problems) ?
Is it a problem of my system?
Most probably, it is either your TeXmacs version or your OS.
