Dear Constantin,

I'll cc my answer to the texmacs-users mailing list, as other people might have the same problem, or a better answer.

It is by chance that yesterday I found out that there is a program like TeXmacs (I am using Emacs all the time). I installed the newest version from the GNU web-page. The installation and everything went smoothly.

TeXmacs is also available via Cygwin's installer setup.exe. The current version 1.0.6 should be available within 48h. Meanwhile it can be installed from my "private" package repository. Please see http://www.fmi.uni-passau.de/~seidl/texmacs/tmtour.html#2 for installation instructions.

If "texmacs --version" does not give you 1.0.6, then you should upgrade to this version. Anyway I recommend to use setup.exe for installation, as this will ensure that you have all required packages. The list of required packages can be found also under http://andreasseidl.com/cygwin/release/TeXmacs/setup.hint .

The problem is that each time I am running the program TeXmacs regenerates the missing fonts and this is very annoying.

I've installed the 1.0.6 version on a fresh Cygwin installation, and displayed the user manual. Some .pk files and some .tfm files were generated. After closing and restarting TeXmacs no fonts were regenerated. (There are some locatedb errors though.) So I cannot reproduce your problem.

I followed the instructions from the Web to install fonts in ~/.TeXmacs but this problem continued to persist. Any input as to what should I do to change this behaviour is welcome since I really want to try this program. Should I change something within the environment variables, or set up new ones in order to tell the system where to look for the missing fonts?

I've never needed to install these fonts myself. Maybe someone else has an idea.

Best Regards,
Andreas
