I think that the answer is there.

I followed the instructions exactly and now I have a <number | 2 | roman> where the page number ' 2 ' was. If I put this command into the preamble it doesn't change anything and if I put the command in the document it says ' error bad number '. I'm using the article document style. Any ideas?
