It turns out there is a TeXmacs 1.0.6.1 in Cygwin. I will give up installing new versions of TeXmacs for a while.

Yes my guile is 1.8.1. Could you tell me how to uninstall it and install some earlier version? I am pretty
ignorant about cygwin/linux. Thanks a lot!

Hello all,

I tried to install TeXmacs 1.0.6.6 onto cygwin 1.5.21-1. However I always got "unable to link statically with guile" when configuring ( I reinstalled cygwin several times, but the problem persists).
This is no problem. You always get that on a mac, too. It means it will you dynamic linking, which is fine.

Then if I try to compile
using "make" anyway, I got Error: "new declaration 'int scm_to_int32(scm_unused_struct*)" and then
"ambiguates old declaration 'scm_t_int32 scm_to_int32(scm_unused_struct*)' ".
It might be, that your guile version is 1.8 or 1.8.1? You can check with
guile-config --version

To my knowledge, you cannot not compile TeXmacs with the guile 1.8 interface. Sorry.

I just tried to have a look, but I can't even convince guile 1.8.1 to run on my Intel Mac.

I followed the instruction on texmacs.org when installing cygwin. Could anyone tell me what I should do to be able to install TeXmacs?
If this has to with Guile 1.8. There should be an update to the documentation, or we will see more of this.

Ingolf

Thank you very much!

Best,
Xinwei Yu
