| As a LaTeX user, I never would have thought to put them inside the
| label. But thinking about it, that's where my cursor is likely to be
| when I make a label during editing of a TeXmacs document. Perhaps the
| code that inserts a label should automatically move it to just after the
| label, or disallow entering a label inside the section heading text?

Or even better: The code generating the table of contents should
automatically
strip the section texts it enters into the TOC of any label declarations. So
the user is able to put labels whereever he or she wants.

| more in keeping with "do what I want" and "least surprise".
